Wow! What a year! I'm not going to say it's flown by. Yes, the days do fly...but there were some rough moments in there. I think I've aged 5 extra years in this one year. I don't really mind- I mean, what else would I be doing....but it's been quite a year. We've done lots of reminiscing this week.
The weather was super cold this week so we had plenty of time to hang out inside and watch videos from past births and Birthdays. Monday we had an awesome MOPS meeting hearing a marriage and family therapist give us fantastic words of wisdom. The meeting got a little deep, that's a good thing. We spent the afternoon at Ringhaver with Jan enjoying a last gorgeous afternoon before the cold set in. We met the Naugle's for dinner at Lola's. It was great catching up with them! Tuesday we did story time at Willowbranch. It was Catholic Schools week so they had an open house where we could sit in the classrooms to see the kids. Mom watched the girls so Phil and I could check it out. It was neat to see them in action! That night we went to a Greek restaurant to celebrate our dentist's 50th Birthday! What a neat place! Wednesday was Abigail's big FIRST Birthday! The older girls loved singing to her all day. We met mom and Suzanne for a bday lunch at chick-fil-a. Later, we went out to dinner when Phil got home for Moon River pizza. We even got a double chocolate cup cake for the Birthday girl. Thursday we had the Evans girls over for a play date. Ellie was so happy to have a "big kid" to play with in the morning! Ellie did a make up dance class that night. I spent all day prepping for a party weekend and everyone coming to town. Phil's parents arrived a 2am that morning (and you know I was still awake!) Friday was grandparents day at school. Elizabeth is so blessed to have all 4 grandparents with her for the morning! That was pretty cool! Meanwhile, the younger girls and I went to coffee club at MOSH to discuss if Catholic hospitals should be required to offer abortions? It was a great discussion! I had one of those marathon mornings- running all over. I helped bring donated MOPS items to Jump N Jax, picked up some giant bubble wands for Abigail's party and raced to meet my mom and sister for lunch and pedis. Phil's Godmother and her daughter, Michelle came in town that afternoon. It was great to have my team of helpers to celebrate Abigail. We had a lasagna welcome dinner for everyone. Saturday we threw a bubble bash for Abigail. Lots of balloons, bubbles and fun! It ended with a random group playing drinking games. The weather turned out to be perfect- nice and sunny...after a super cold week! We even took Michelle out on a boat ride downtown! That night, we did another last minute parents night out. This time we began at the Black Sheep rooftop then went to this place called the Silver Cow. What a fun day! The lack of sleep, running around and partying made me come down with a cold. Today is super low key for us, even if it is Super Bowl Sunday! Thank you to all of those out there who helped us get through this past year. Maybe you held a baby, took a kid for a while, did a shot, shared a bottle of wine, brought a meal, cut me some slack or said some prayers- all of it is much appreciated! "It takes a village..." And Happy First Birthday to the Original Sweet Pea! Cheers to many more wonderful years!
