This week didn't start out so well. In fact, Monday was pretty much my worst day as a mom. I know that sounds like an exaggeration- my days are always filled with highs and lows...but this one was pretty bad. I am not a morning person. I never have been. I remember sitting in my kindergarten class room being tired and crabby in the morning. So, you know adding the stress of babies all throughout the night and then early in the morning is not going to turn me into 'Peachy Petunia' in the morning. Monday morning was particularly rough...maybe more screaming than usual, I don't really remember. But, I know we needed to get out. I failed to plan anything but remembered I had passes to Pump It Up, the indoor inflatable bounce facility. So, we packed up and drove the 40min out there. Only to find out it was CLOSED FOR A BIRTHDAY PARTY! (What?! at 10am on a Monday morning, you ask?) Deep breath. I posted my adventure on the MOPS page to see if anyone wanted to join us and Jenny posted that she was planning on taking her sorority to a movie instead. So, that's how I got my crew out of the Birthday party- by telling them we were going to see a movie with the Stanelle's. I ASS U MEd it was a dollar movie (because who actually pays for a real movie for a kid?!) alas Planes is NOT a cheapy. So, I shelled out the $16 for us to go (I was already on plan C at that point!). And then you know we had to get the large popcorn and sprite since that's what was included in the cheapy movie we saw before. The girls were okay, not great, just okay. I think I was crabby because I had spent so much money. And since we were all the way in Tinsiltown, I made the HORRIBLE decision to go to the Town Center Mac Store at lunchtime to get an iPhone (I was due for an upgrade! and Marly voted for a train ride over the movie). I'm not allowed back to the Mac store. Marly peed on the floor TWICE, Ellie pulled out the plug during my phone transfer and Abigail cried pretty much the whole time. I did walk away with an iPhone, 2 screaming kids and one soaked in pee. I was not a great mom and not a great wife...poor Phil got a root canal that morning and instead of me comforting him. he brought home a dozen roses. (Yeah, PB!) I was saved that afternoon by a dinner invitation from Ashley. The kids made pizzas while I drank beer. Whew! Tuesday we did storytime (and arrived too late for the first one and had to wait for the second one) but then had lunch in the hot park with the Freemans and Browns. That evening we got a sitter so Phil and I could attend Ellie's VPK Orientation. Very exciting! Wednesday we did the splash park with Tabby and that afternoon Phil's parents came in town for a visit. I made a slow cooked ribs dinner, which turned out great. Thursday after a pancake breakfast we took abuelitos to the zoo! With the exception of the near death zoo train collision, it was a fantastic day. The Jax library had a culmination of their summer reading program event with crafts, storytelling, snowcones and face painting. We even bought a zoo membership! That night I sautéed some steaks then snuck out during a downpour to a girls night. Remember how I said that I'm not a morning person? Part of that problem is that I am totally a night person. Staying at Chrissy's until midnight drinking wine does not help one with mornings. Luckily, the in-laws were still here. So, I was spoiled and awoke to smell of coffee and bacon downstairs. I took the older girls to coffee club at the Discovery House where we discussed space exploration. We came home for lunch and then I snuck off again during naptime for a massage. That night we got a sitter and took Phil's parents out to Ameila Island for dinner at Espana and dancing at the Ritz! Lots of fun! They left super early the next morning. We headed over for the Rice twin's Sweet Pea 1st Birthday party. We had a lazy afternoon then had another sitter come and headed out with 5 other couples to do the Eat Up Downtown. The restaurant, Benny's was awful. Their ac was out and the service was terrible. The food was pretty good, though then we hit up dos gatos, which was lots of fun. Sunday morning was mass, Dunkin Donuts and an afternoon swim at my parents while Phil played bball. Whew! So, my week got much better!
