We were trying to come up with a family vacation idea. We considered Charleston, since we've never been there. Then someone suggested renting a beach house in Charleston. About that time my dad was giving me grief for never using their beach condo...so poof...we booked a week in Navarre Beach. Wow, what a great week. The biggest decision was beach or pool or where to eat for dinner. We usually hit the beach each morning then the pool then back up to the 5th floor for lunch and nap. We'd head back down to the pool in the afternoon then clean up for dinner. Fantastic seafood, fun cocktails, super family time = amazing for the BravoFam! One day we switched it up and went to the splash park nearby and then rented a jet ski. I took Marly for the first 30min then Phil took Ellie. We also had dinner and spent an afternoon with my cousin, Dane and her family (Abigail's Godparents). We took a walk on the pier and saw all sorts of neat things: dolphins, sting ray, tiger shark- that water is so clear! We got a boogie board and took the girls out for a ride (while Abigail caught up on her sleep). Super Fun! We tried to build sand castles but that sand is so sugary, they kept falling down. It takes a perfect mixture with water. So now our family is nice and tan! Marly can really swim!!! She can jump off the side and swim to the steps. I'm so proud of her! And Ellie is working on her freestyle stroke! Phil and I also got some much needed quality time. One night we stayed up and watched one of my favorite movies, Fried Green Tomatoes. We did drinking games another night and mostly sat out on the balcony watching the beach and Summerwind Scene. Ah, what a great break! We came back on Friday and went out with a group of friends for dinner and drinks. Saturday we picked blueberries. Too bad there weren't very many to pick, we had just enough for pancakes on Sunday morning. Abigail and I took Ellie to her pal from school's Birthday party at the park. That afternoon we went to the Evans house for a cookout. Courtney's pregnant with their third...I hope we didn't scare them too bad! Sunday morning was mass and then boating and swimming at Mimi & Papa's (we came just in time for eggs benedict!) Then Ellie had her first day of VBS. It's kina an odd time in the evenings. I guess it's perfect if your kids are older, then you get a date night each night for a week. This morning we went to the Suter's spashpark, at a park just a short walk from their house. Fun morning! Now, I've got 2 down and 1 watching Sesame Street. Our summer is starting out great!
