On Wednesday morning I was nursing Voss when Marly walked in and said her head hurt and something was stuck in it. She and Abigail had been downstairs eating raisins while waiting for friends to arrive for a play date. At first I thought it was a raisin stuck in her head, maybe even a prune- it was huge, maybe the size of my thumb nail. When I looked closer I realized it was a tick in her head! Inside, I was freaking out, no way was I going to be able to pull that thing out! And you know Marly wasn't going to sit still for me to do it. I acted calm to her, googled ticks, called a neighbor then Phil. Then I decided to just bring her in to the pediatrician and let them do it. I scrambled getting everyone in the car (I had taken all the car seats apart to wash them!), dropped Abigail off at Tracy's then headed to the doctor. You won't believe this but at some point during this craziness of course the tick fell off! Gone! Still, he checked for lime disease and of course Marly is fine. But where is the tick? I'm constantly checking everyone! Creepy! Meanwhile, we've been doing the swim lessons for Abigail at my parent's house. And she can swim now! Yay, Abby! As the weather warmed this week, the fleas inside increased! I go over there a little early to let all the girls swim and I get in with Abby to get her used to the water (still cold!) Once the teacher arrives, I take the girls and Voss inside so Abby can have one on one attention. Monday, someone saw a flea. Tuesday, I saw one in the shower. By Thursday, we were all outside watching her lesson due to the fleas! Orkin came Saturday morning just to tell us yes there are fleas and will have to schedule some time to spray! Just during that conversation my legs were covered! ACK! So, in other news, Phil's Godmother's daughter came to visit us this week. She came through on Thursday so we were able to visit with her. I checked out One Spark with the younger two that morning. It hadn't really gotten going yet so I wasn't real impressed. Friday we did story time. It was a low key weekend, not much planned so that was nice! Wine Club was Friday night. It was just down the street at the Freemans so we had 2 babysitters here with all the kids. Phil decided to finally bight the bullet and get a new car! Of course he did this on Friday afternoon, arriving in style at wine club! We stayed too late so Saturday morning was rough. We had a nice breakfast and took it easy then went to Pierce's under construction Birthday party. Later that night the Applegates came over for dinner to celebrate Meghan's Birthday. They ordered Chinese food and we got a brownie cheesecake. Super low key. Today we had another relaxing day. I took the girls to Disney on Ice while Phil and Voss watched the Masters. Contemporary mass and pizza then everyone to bed. I'm so happy Linda is coming tomorrow to give this place a deep clean while I'm meeting Orkin for a spray! Cheers to a bug-less week!
