I became famous this week! A few months ago I applied to an ad from one of the many mom-ish facebook groups I'm in. The advertisement said something about looking for moms with babies (ages 2 and under) who'd like to compare prices at Walmart and get a gift card and free groceries. So, I sent an email, did a phoner and casting call. I was chosen as an alternate and then got the call to come in last minute. I was lucky to line up 2 sitters to cover my "shift" on Tuesday so I could go play movie star. We met at a Dunkin Donuts on the southside and each got $250 in cash. I could buy 35 items. So, I went wild, taking my time (without children climbing on me) to read labels and choose the 35 things I'd buy with free money. I had a shopper pal with me logging in everything as a put it in the cart (little stressful). Next, we went to Walmart and they took me groceries to compare while I went in the back to get my hair and make up done! There was another girl who was also chosen for the shopping spree and got her hair & make-up done, too. We both got a $250 gift card to Walmart! But then I was chosen for the commercial. I was sorta thinking she got the better deal. She got all the perks but then got to go home and not pay for a sitter for the rest of the day (like me). Ah well, but then I wouldn't be famous (sarcasm). I'm not sure why I was picked...maybe my groceries had the largest difference? So, for the next 4 hours we filmed all over the Walmart. It got old saying "Oh my goodness" and "that's amazing" over and over. I have an appreciation for real actors. It took us all afternoon for a :30 spot- imagine an hour long episode! Wow! And I looked so cool (as cool as one can look in a Walmart) with the camera guy, light gal, sound guy, Walmart manager, make up chick and host! When I got home at 4pm, I was wiped out! How are you working women doing this?! Man, I went to bed at 8pm that night! So, here is the commercial if you missed it (not sure how since it's playing nonstop for the next 2 weeks!) So, what else happened this week? Well, we had a mops meeting (not impressed with the speaker from Wee Spout Naturally freaking everyone out about getting cancer from disposable diapers), park time, story time, play dates- one with April and Elizabeth and another one at Gara's for MOPS. Dad came over for dinner one night since mom is out of town on a girls weekend. Jan brought me lunch one afternoon so we could catch up with end of the year MOPS. We had an awesome book club discussion for The Husband's Secret at Heather's house. I was able to sneak out for a girls night with my old running pals- Heather, Shea and Erin after a family pizza dinner with the Suters and Stanelle's. Saturday was pouring rain so of course we go to the outdoor mall- the town center. Did some shopping and eating then went all out for Amanda's Birthday party last night. I had never been to Derby House, but it was so yummy! Then, we went bar hopping and clubbing until really late. Lots of fun, but you know today was rough. A beautiful looking day, but pretty chilly. I got caught up on some house projects. Oh, the life of a local celebrity- ha!
