Today's "message" in mass was the value of friendships (and how you should have a solid friendship with God). It got me thinking about my friendships. We have so many wonderful friends. I rely on this group quite a bit. It takes time and "work" to foster these relationships, but I feel like I reap so many rewards. I love it. And I love the wide variety of friends that we have. It's refreshing to have the diversity. This week is yet another example of the value of our friendships. Monday we went to visit the newest baby boy Hopkins, Paul. I'm sure we overwhelmed Lauren, who is enjoying her maternity leave with just one baby home. We had a quick lunch with Phil before meeting some MOPS pals at My Gym for a pm playdate. Naptime was pretty successful (good thing since I had lots of monogramming to keep me busy). Phil had a guy's night so I had my 'ole pal Chrissy over. She brought these AMAZING blueberry margaritas. I loved catching up with her! Tuesday we invaded Tabby's splashpark, then pool then toys. Wednesday we picked up my mom and met the Kerkezi boys at the Red Elephant for lunch then went to their house for a pool playdate. This ended up being the best afternoon ever because my mom stayed in the car with the girls while I ran errands. It's scary how amazing that was! Thursday, I took my sorority to a kids summer movie series to see Madagascar 3. $4 included entrance, popcorn, soda and fruit snacks. Ellie loved it. Marly loved the popcorn...and when that ran out (she dropped hers on the way in) things got crazy. Abigail did her super terodactyl scream for the first 20min before finally falling asleep after a crazed nursing session. This is a once a year occasion, for sure! I was so thrilled for our MOPS girls night that night- getting pedicures. But only 3 others showed up so it was a sorta lame showing. I still had a great time, don't get me wrong. I can go a long way with wine, cheese and a pedi...but I felt bad for the nail place. I had told them more people were coming. Friday we had coffee club at the splash park again. April, Tracy and I heavily discussed the Florida Stand Your Ground law. We were at the park for like 3 hours! Later that evening, the Suter's came over to make pizzas with us. The girls were so excited to do this. We almost made pizzas on Thursday but we had some behavior issues to work through. So Friday afternoon was a special treat. The Newts came over after bedtime for power hour and a quick boat ride (we need gas). Saturday morning I made scrambled eggs and bacon before our Birthday adventures. First up was Frank's 2nd Birthday with a train ride! We got in a super cool ride before the rain hit. The afternoon was Anna Grace's pool party. The invite said until 5pm, but we stayed well after that! Woops! What fun for the whole family! This morning we went to mass (Abigail's 2nd time in the nursery with Miss Kim= success!). I was thinking this week about my nursing time. Nursing Abigail wasn't easy to start out. It took a few months to get the hang of it. And life is so busy and fast with our family of 5 that I'm usually up on my feet. But breastfeeding my sweet baby has FORCED down time (you know I wasn't good at that anyway). But nursing her MAKES me sit still and do nothing (I still need 2 hands usually). So it gives me time to just BE. With this season of life, I don't tend to do that and it's really nice, actually. We went to the Town Center for lunch and a bit of shopping oh and a train ride (can't get enough of those!). We threw together a dinner party tonight (while PB was playing bball). We had the neighbors over for dinner. I made some spaghetti casseroles. Lots of wine and lots of kids- great way to kick off the week! Thank you to all of our friends that put up with us. I hope we don't overbravo you too much!
