America! And back to a bit of a routine we went, and then I realized July had started and it was time to celebrate the 4th of July! River Rats got us going again, filling our mornings with swimming fun. Marly braved it and jumped off the diving board! Ellie is like a fish, even swimming a real 25meters in freestyle one morning (Wow!) Jan and I got together and visited all the new MOPS moms. Out of the 9 we saw, only 1 answered the door. Not great odds but it seems like they appreciated the goodies we left. I'm slowly working on prepping for the retreat with all this spare time that I have. Luckily it's not too much from scratch, since I did it all last year. I reunited with my neighbor, Stephanie. We had a nice, pm playdate one afternoon and I remembered that I'm a much better person at 5pm after a glass of wine or two. We had a JU pals playdate on Wednesday and destroyed my friend, Bre's house. For a few moments, all 3 girls were napping after that fun morning. And then wham, it's a holiday! We kicked it off with a BBQ at the Fredlands. They are moving to Hawaii and threw a keg party to celebrate. The morning of the 4th we went for a boat ride before the crowds came out then headed over to the Suter's for smoked ribs & brisket. Lot of swimming, eating and tapping a keg! We ran around with some sparklers when we got home then everyone fell asleep so I watched the fireworks from our balcony, not too shabby. Phil took Friday off and came with us to see our River Rat in her mini meet. Then, we took the boat on an adventure. The plan was to take a quick trip to the Landing, but we ran out of gas under the Roosevelt bridge and coasted to Lamb's to refuel with our extra tank. (The gas gauge is broken). We made it to the gas station and learned we have a 35 gallon tank instead of 45. We did make it to the Landing where we had well deserved margaritas at the Mexican restaurant there. We stopped by my parent's on the way back for a swim. We talked my sister into watching the girls and we went out with some new friends, the Nixons (our new neighbors, right across the water). We got a tour of their new house then went out for pizza and a drink at a rooftop bar. Saturday we celebrated Jack's 3rd Birthday with a train ride! Marly pretty much rode the train the whole time. Abigail loved it, too! We all came home and collapsed. After a series of naps, I talked Phil into going to the OG in the OP. Then, he convinced me to check out the Odyssey. I hate to say it, but I think my sedan days are short-lived. Today we went to Sophia's baptism. Another Catholic in the hood! Wooo whooo! It was a sweet ceremony followed by breakfast at the Freemans (big party weekend for them!) We've had a relaxing afternoon and even got in a swim at my parents. Phil played basketball with Kevin, too. Now Phil is watching Wimbledon (one of the 4 times of year when I'm not allowed to "bother him"). Happy 4th of July week to you!
