What a fun summer so far. We are blessed! We started out with glam by hitting the beach. Let's not kid ourselves...getting to the beach is not easy. There is lots of screaming and crying (sometimes by me)...getting everyone dressed (sometimes Ellie tries on 3 or 4 different suits before picking one to wear for the day), lunch packed, snacks packed, cleaning up breakfast, extra clothes, changing diapers, water for the beach, water for the way there and the way back, cut up the watermelon... And you know, to make the whole beach thing work, the key is to get out there as early as possible. A supermom would have done lots of this prep the night before. I was not her on Monday morning. Somehow, we did make it to the beach and met up with Katherine and her boys and had an amazing time. Marly went nuts on the water slide! So cool! We had another week of River Rats and Ellie learned to swim butterfly! I thought that would be the last stroke, but she can actually do it! So cute watching her little bottom do that flutter kick! Marly, Abby and I enjoyed our time up there, too...chatting with other parents, swimming in the deep end, cheering for Ellie (and Marly gets a lolly pop, too...what a good big sis Ellie!) Tuesday we met Tabby at the Cummer for an afternoon playdate to break up the week. It was hot, but they still ran laps around the gardens. Phil had a guy's night that night so I got some time to myself to work on baby books, take a shower and read my new book, The Artists Daughter. It's a MOPS book and it's really good so far. Wednesday we hosted a playdate, which is sorta tricky coming from the pool. But it was super laid back and we set up our play pool before. Courtney is preggo with her 3rd and her first 2 are almost exactly the same ages. They are fun. Phil had the idea to pick up burgers and take the boat out for dinner. Great idea! It was nice and flat and we went downtown. We're getting brave! I started back up running in the mornings. I kina took off for a while. It's already so hot by 9am. We don't go too far but it's better than nothing and I think it puts me in a better mood. I'm working Ellie, though. She's been napping almost every afternoon! And even with a nap, Marly is always ready for bed. Those tan girls are having a super summer! On Thursday we brought pizza for lunch to my pal, Bre who just had her 3rd baby and is on maternity leave from JU. Her older two were in daycare so the girls had full reign of the toys. Ha! Friday was packed- first thing we headed to St. Marks to prep for the MOPS Marketplace, a fundraiser for our convention trip. We had River Rats then storytime. The girls got free happy meals for reading books! I did a super nutty run to Winn Dixie at 4:30pm and oh in the rain. Crazy, I know. Good thing I have pals at WD that help me the whole way. After the girls went to sleep we had the Suters and Newtons over for Edward 40 Hands and Power Hour. Lots of fun but we stayed up too late...the problem with getting started so late! Saturday was one of those days when we just did TOO MUCH! I spent the morning at that MOPS Marketplace, then we had the Valents Birthday party (Sawyer turning 2!) where Marly fell and bit her lip, or something like that. No stiches, but she has a fat lip, the poor girl! After that we split up and Phil took Marly to the Harmon's Birthday (Jamie)/gender revelation for baby #2- it's a girl! I took the other girls to help with the marketplace tear down. It was an awesome first event for us...but not much walk up traffic. Then we went to Ellsa's unicorn & rainbow Birthday party. Last night Phil was asleep by 6pm and I by 8:30pm. What a day! Today was very relaxing...blueberry pancakes, mass and then we took the boat to the Landing for lunch! I did say we were brave! Swimming at my parents, basketball at the park, mowing grass, cleaning cars. Ta-da, another week!
