Another hot, summer week. It's so hot- I think it can affect our mood- lots of crabby attitudes! I had to lock the older two outside at once point to simmer down. We did some indoor things to keep cool. We did Michaels art camp (never again, total chaos), Pump it Up (next time, remind me to bring my socks), Matilda at Sunray Cinema (mostly chasing Voss around the theater), library and pm movie play date at the Leens (Ellie had a nasty bike accident on the way back). We also soaked up the summer sun, don't you worry! Swim team is in full force. Monday was a hot swim meet. Marly swam so hard she knocked out her first tooth! (It's been loose for a while). She was SO excited and got a cool tooth fairy visit! We went to the beach with the Mitchells. It was so fantastic out there! I made the girls double up on swim practices one day. We also went to the jr. river rats practice to see friends and spend time at our pool. My Aunt Susan and Bill were in town. We rode bikes over to see them and play in the pool with our new rafts! We had some fun after hours, too. I went for a night run (trying not really hard to keep exercising through this heat!), I had a GNO at HobNob- super fun to get out! We had a fundraiser for church at the Freemans with some other "young adults". I loved that! Last night we went to 2 farewell parties in one night! The Stanelles and then the Cartes. The good part was all the reminiscing! Phil's parents and sister came in town this weekend. We celebrated Pop's 82nd Birthday! He joined us on our girls run on Saturday- very impressive!! We did a boat/pool/river day yesterday. Super hot, but a great way to cool down. Today we tried for the beach, but the rain stopped us. We needed to spend a day inside anyway. We got haircuts, baked brownies, watched a movie and fought- you know, the usual. After the Bravos left we did a family trip to Costco. That's where my title comes in. I hate that place. It makes me feel so "industrial American". We drive all the way out there in our VAN, fight to park and get in the door then walk away with PALLETS of food. It's gross. I feel like such a sell out. I don't do cloth diapers anymore, either. Voss is just too nasty. I quit. My pal, Jessica told me today I was becoming less crunchy...and I was actually sad about that. Sigh. We went to the fun contemporary mass tonight. We love listening to Caroline sing! After we had dinner and swimming with our neighbors. Great way to end the week. I hope you're finding ways to keep cool this summer, too!
